On March 2nd the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission rolled back promised reforms to the Lower Columbia River gillnet fishery. These reforms that had been agreed upon in 2013 by both the States of Washington and Oregon. During this podcast, you'll hear from Liz Hamilton with the Northwest Sportfishing Industry Association who supports continuing the reforms as promised and from Bill Tweit with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife who explains why the Commission took the actions it did.
It should be noted we first tried several times to contact the Washington Dept. of Fish and Wildlife and Commission for comment but were told on March 8th nobody would be available in time for our March 16th broadcast. That's why Liz Hamilton's interview aired by itself the weekend of March 16th and Bill Tweit's interview aired the following week, March 23rd, 2019.
