This Memorial Day weekend on Northwestern Outdoors Radio we'll take you to a great place to go fishing, the Columbia River Gorge bordering Oregon and Washington. The Apex Pro Tour was fishing there all week as part of the grueling Spartan 580 bass tournament and Randy McBride with the Wild West Bass Trail and Apex Pro Tour will tell you about this premiere West Coast tournament circuit and detail what a great smallmouth bass fishery the Columbia River has to offer. Who won the tournament? You'll find out right after the weigh in and we'll get that angler's thoughts about fishing the Columbia River Gorge and found out how he caught an18 plus pound, five-fish limit on the final day of the tourney. In addition to this, The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a Community Day featuring a "Fish With a Pro" morning tournament. We'll talk to one of the anglers who not only had a fun morning on the water, but wants to share the news about the great salmon, walleye and sturgeon fishing found around here too. Last but not least, if you are looking for something fun to do this weekend, head on down to the John Day River to participate in the annual Rufus Catfish Derby. Wendy Boyer with Gorge Outfitters Supply will share the details about this fun event!

He'll explain why he keeps coming here year after year and why he also likes to visit the other Anglers Inn lodge in Mexico at Lake Picachos. We'll also visit with Larry and Mandi Fugate who are first time visitors. They had a blast catching some personal best trophies and they'll explain why this is a great trip for couples! Finally, we'll let you know whether or not host John Kruse landed a "Grande" bass during this trip.
